Norse/Heathen Blot
with Heidi the Smith
On Saturday Heidi the Smith will be holding a Norse/Heathen
blot (ritual) to honor Freya, Odin and our Ancestors.
After the blot there will be a holy sumbel, or passing of the drinking
horn, in three rounds. Pre-ritual chat, post ritual visiting and
discussion. Come and join us up on the hill behind the smithy, to
stand together beneath the glorious sky and hail the Gods! Wassail!
Honoring Ceremony for Our Veterans,
Active Duty Military Members, and their Families.
Sunday=10am, Main Circle Area.
In 2010 I was compelled by spirit to hold a ceremony honoring
the members of our community who have either served or are serving
in the Military. It is something that is/was deeply important to
me.There are many, many Neo-pagan, Heathen and Earth spirituality
folk serving, I wanted to honor them. I was inspired primarily in
honor of a freind, Bruce. He was a deeply spiritual man, dedicated
to his ancestral Lakota teachings. He was also a VietnamVeteran,
who through his peoples traditional ways had found peace. My friend
told me about how in the Native American community Veterans are
treated with respect and honor. At pow wows they dance out first,
carrying the flags. They are given recognition for their service.
They are honored their warriors, and this honoring helped my friend
heal the wounds of his experiences in Vietnam.
So, it is in this spirit, the spirit of honoring that I ask folks
to come to the circle, and honor our ancestors, loved ones, and
active duty soldiers who serve or have served.
Thank you to all who attended last year and co-created this ceremony!
You rock, and I am honored to have shared so much with you all in
circle.
We will have an altar, so please bring photos or any special items
you would like to be placed on it.
See me at the smithy if you have any questions or requests.
Wassail!

Drum Workshop
offered by Robin
Tips, practice and just plain
drumming! Also, we'll be learning several rhythms that will be played
at the Sacred Fire all weekend. By the time you head home, you'll
be able to lead your own Drum Circles!
Create Your Own Oracle
Deck
Mix your imagination and intuition to create your
own personal Oracle Deck! We will be using cut out images from magazines
and other sources – such as images that you bring which have
special meaning to you – to create a special and distinctive
deck of cards using collage techniques. Much like a Tarot deck,
these cards can be used again and again as a way to explore your
psyche and tend to your soul. You can begin to create a traditional
Tarot deck or you can build a deck based on your Chakra Allies,
Archetypes or Totem Animals. As you create the cards, the various
ways in which your personal life story is interwoven into the larger,
Divine Story will become clearer as patterns unique to you emerge
in your deck. Each deck will hold special and unique meaning for
each individual and the cards you make during the workshop can be
the beginning of your larger deck. I will provide all the materials
needed for making three or four cards, which will become the basis
for your deck.
Intro to Blacksmithing
Check with Dan on site for costs
Join Dan and Heidi for this unique opportunity to learn some of
the basics of blacksmithing! Sign up is first come, first served
@ the Smithy’s. Students will learn the basics of blacksmithing,
using a coal fired forge.
There will also be a talk on the history of blacksmithing,
its patron Gods and goddesses and lore. Students will get hands
on experience and will walk away with a small-completed piece of
ironwork.
To take this class you must have: Closed toed shoes
(sneakers are fine, but leather shoes or boots are best). NO sandals
or bare feet, trust us… Steel-- hot, ouch! Bring safety glasses:
you can purchase these on the cheap at Home Depot, or most hardware
stores, get clear lenses.
Please wear clothing made only of cotton fabric,
ie: Jeans or Carharts, t-shirts etc. Sparks from the hot steel can
ignite polyester and no one wants to be dunked in the quench tub.
Bring hair ties, long hair is to be tied so it doesn't get singed.
Finally, bring a snack and something to drink, smithing burns up
calories…
We are happy to be able to offer this class again this year, and
look forward to seeing you all there!

Sacred Bread Making w/
Bones
Help us to bake the sacred bread for Saturday's ritual! Led by
Bones, bring your ideas for bread, Etruscan style, gluten free -
you name it!
Two workshops - Friday and Saturday. 10:00 am (duration: four hours)
Bread making is a sacred task. Using ingredients from the spaces
& soil of the earth to create something that fills the body
with what it needs. You adjust to your body's needs as well. Whether
it with wheat, wheat-free, whole grain or even dairy-free.
Using your hands and you find yourself willing to devote a small
amount of time to the task. Making your own bread brings a sense
of warmth, smells of divine baking, and happy friends & family.
And besides that, you're making your own bread.
Making bread is about a pursuit of presence in daily living. it's
about taking something simple and seeing it's simple. knowing that
you can, you can make your own bread. you can feed your soul. you
can use your wisdom. you can.
You can use the time to make, bake, and share bread as a spiritual
practice. During the workshop, we will be making the bread for the
potluck dinner on Saturday. Mixing and baking supplies along with
white and whole wheat flour and will be provided. You are welcome
bring your own ingredients. The workshop will be limited to four
persons.
